‘What the heck is this’?!? So glad you asked, ’cause I’m gonna tell ya’. This is HEROES VS. VILLAINS! The brand-new combat card game where YOU become the HERO or the VILLAIN and face off against your opponent. This is a card game that can be played 3 different ways. The optimal way is with each player having two decks to draw from, your Archetype deck and your Profession deck. The game can be played on a lesser level with just Archetype decks or just Profession decks but you wont experience the fullness of the game this way, so make sure you have both kinds of decks to get the best out of the game.
ARCHETYPE DECKS are the decks that give you your powerset, your skills and your special abilities. This is what determines what it is that you can do in the game. Some can move at the speed of sound or manipulate the forces of nature or punch through a concrete wall! Without an Archetype deck your basically just some rando (so git dem decks!).
You need an even number of players, so 1v1 works just fine (as that gives you two players) but you can also play on teams! Team play can be a lot of fun, whether it’s with or against friends and family. There is nothing like talking strategy about how your gonna put the hurt on your foes or talking trash after you do a big move or just riffing off each other as you act out what’s going on in the cards. This game can be great for bonding, stress relief or just to inject some action or humor into your day.
The cards themselves are great. some are super serious (like some of the Gunslinger’s cards) and some are humorous (like a lot of the Speedsters) and most are somewhere in-between. The best thing about this card game though is YOU. That’s right, YOU (well, and the people you are playing with). You see, you don’t just play cards in this game. You create a story with the other players and you all take turns contributing to that story. To that end, you should get into your heroic or villainous character and act out the cards you play, not literally, you don’t have to LARP but be villainous if you are a villain and act heroic if you are a hero. This will also help the other players get into their character if you are in yours. We are not looking for Academy Award nominees here, just a little something to give the game a little flavor. You might be surprised at how easy it is and how fun the game can be when you do this.
This game is a work of passion. I really hope you can get out of this game what I have, which is, to have a good, fun time with the people you like to interact with. Try this game (and don’t be cheap and only play with two decks!). If two decks is all you can afford right now then so be it but I really want you to get all I put into this game out of the games you play with friends. If you like it (as I’m sure you will) then I ask that you share this with other people. Help me get the word out about this game. I have big plans for more things in the future but in order for that to happen, this game has to sell. If you buy a few decks, you’re really helping and I thank you and will work hard to bring you even better things in the future.
Till then, fight on.
